山梨、長野両県にまたがり、2800m級の急峻（きゅうしゅん）な山々が南北に連なる八ケ岳連峰。頂上からは、甲府盆地を挟んだ南東方向に雪化粧した富士山を、北西方面に諏訪湖と北アルプスをそれぞれ望むことができる。圧巻のパノラマだ。東京都心の新宿から特急に乗れば、３時間ほどで山麓（さんろく）に着ける八ケ岳。こんな手軽さから冬でも登山者が途切れることがない
