Scotland has decided: United Kingdom remains united as Scots vote NAE to independence

With a turnout of well over 80 percent, Scottish voters have, by a 45 percent to 55 percent margin, rejected independence and will remain part of the UK, preserving a union that has lastest more than 300 years. Independence advocates were saddened, but First Minister for Scotland Alex Salmond said the vote demonstrated democracy at its finest and congratulated the winning side, led by the UK
